I was approached by a landscape design studio, which deals with design, gardening and landscaping in Moscow and the Moscow region.

The founder of the studio has extensive experience of working in different climatic zones and trains young designers. The existing website does not reflect the level of expertise and subtle approach to each client.

Task

Develop a new stylish and laconic website that will set the studio apart from its competitors.

The purpose of the site to present the portfolio, evoke a sense of status and tranquillity and attract premium clients.

A thorough analysis of the niche and related niches was conducted, competitors' websites and target audience were analysed. Potential clients faced a large number of questions due to the lack of clear navigation and texts. On the basis of this analysis the structure of the site was developed and the texts for the site were written. The main emphasis was placed on reputational content: cases, diplomas, awards, participation in exhibitions, training of other designers. Client-orientation is reflected with the help of the text.

To convey the mood and messages, moodboard and references were collected and presented to the customer. A font pair was selected. The main associations were: calmness, trust, professionalism, prestige, openness, empathy, security, care, unity with nature, naturalness.
At this stage it was necessary to show the customer visual ideas and synchronise in the vision of the future site.

In design, minimalism is mainly used in order not to distract the user’s attention, to emphasise the portfolio, and also to emphasise the premium nature of the services. Smooth animation of tree branches silhouettes was used to create the atmosphere of the garden and nature.

In portfolio section smooth animation of images and text appearance is used. Images are smoothly zoomed in, creating the effect of zooming in. The objects in the portfolio smoothly appear and disappear, giving the user a break before viewing the next object.
In services section, a smooth animation by scroll is used to reveal the items. The animation looks like flowing water, which is also associated with the customer’s services, as one of the services is the creation of artificial reservoirs.
